Pierced for our iniquities
The Lamb was led to slaughter
In His Blood is healing peace
For all the sons and daughters
The prophets voiced His life
A foreshadowing of redemption
The foretelling of the Light
Who was to come for our salvation
Who came to bear our sin and death
And to free us from oppression
His gave to us much more than breath
For our reconciliation
From our perfect God of order
Came a perfect sacrifice
Who could not be stopped by mortals
For there was no other price
And those who could not see
Would deny His purposed power
But those who did believe
Had soon recognized the Hour
He was bound and carried far
Came to sanctify and rescue
And was flogged to bleeding scars
As our everlasting breakthrough
With a crown of twisted thorns
That was placed upon his head
For a punishment of scorn
But freedom came instead
Pierced for our iniquities
The Lamb was led to slaughter
In His Blood is healing peace
For all the sons and daughters
Isaiah 53:4-5
4 Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering,
yet we considered Him punished by God, stricken by Him, and afflicted.
5 But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed.
