Worship: adoration, love, reverence, devotion, intense admiration
You can connect with God at any time throughout the day, but the connection that you make with Him during praise is worship is so much more personal. Just as family and friends can call us and we enjoy the conversation, so it is in prayer; but when our families and friends come to see us and spend quality time with us, it’s so much more heartfelt – their presence makes all the difference; and so it with prayer, praise and worship. “God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” John 4:24.
This time is an up-close and personal time with our Lord. It’s our face to face visit with Him and means so much more. The windows of Heaven are open. The Holy Spirit joins us. We are one, in unity, as God always intended for us to be, and as Jesus prayed we would be: John 17:21 “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
Whether you know it or not, you already know how to praise and worship – it’s been imbedded in your spirit from the moment God thought of your very existence and place within His kingdom – we’re created with it. Giving Him praise is your heartfelt thank you for everything you have and will have, everything you are and everything you will become. “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” Psalms 139:14. Think of all the things that God has given you throughout your life, no matter how small and insignificant any of it may seem, it’s all a blessing and no blessing is too small. “Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence” Psalm 21:6.
The very fact that you are reading is something to praise for – that means that there is something here that God wanted tell you, so in this very moment He will speak to, whether it’s in one simple word or an entire conversation, as He is doing with me as I write. But you have to want to listen for His voice. “God’s voice thunders in marvelous ways; he does great things beyond our understanding” Job 37:5
Attentiveness: an important aspect of connection in prayer, praise and worship is being attentive to God. We have to acknowledge Him, in everything we do. “In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:6. This is so true, just as everything in His Word is. Notice, this scripture doesn’t say, “Acknowledge Him when you need Him” or “acknowledge Him in the morning / before bed.” This scripture specifically says “acknowledge Him in ALL your ways”. This means that in everything you say and do, acknowledge Him consistently throughout the day.
When you wake, while you dress, before, during and after you eat, as you work, as you speak to others, in every thought you have, acknowledge Him – always. Express how much you love Him. Talk to Him like He’s your closest friend, your most trusting friend and the loving friend that He is to you. You don’t have to ask for anything. Just talk. Open up to Him. Give Him everything you have within you. Before you know it, you’ll acknowledge Him with every breath. You’ll begin to see all His wonderful works in your life and all around you, and your spirit will worship before you even begin to speak!
Psalm 34:1“I will bless you Lord at all times, Your praise shall continually be in my mouth!”
Prayer: Abba Father, You are the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I humbly bow down before You and offer every part of myself to You in worship, praise, reverence and love. I thank You for the blessing and gift of worship, Lord. You are my Creator and Provider, my Comforter and Counselor, Father God. I thank You for always being with me, Lord. Help me to decrease of the flesh, and to increase in Your Holy Spirit. I pray to heed Your leading onto righteous paths, and bring honor to Your name. Thank You for this blessed moment to lay at Your feet in praise and admiration. I will praise You always, and tell of the marvelous works you have done! In Jesus’ mighty and precious name I pray, Amen ♥
